ICMAD 2012 Student Packaging Design Winners
Browse beautiful packaging designs by Graphic Design Students at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, who developed cosmetic concepts for an annual packaging competition sponsored by ICMAD, the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors association.
We mentioned?FIDM Graphic Design?Grad Matt Zonona earlier this year, who was awarded third place in ICMAD?s?13th?Annual Young Designers?packaging design competition, open to design students from across the U.S.
Zonona recently returned to Los Angeles from New York City to attend?ICMAD?s Young Designers 2012 Dinner to accept his award for the foaming perfume package concept?Farfalla.
In addition to a cash award and trip to New York, Zonona also received industry networking opportunities, including special tours with cosmetic and personal care manufacturers.
?The tours were great. The one I enjoyed that?most was RPG where we hung out with the two creative directors,? says Zonona. ?They showed us?everything the company does.?I feel as if they were very open with us?and answered are questions very well and it seemed like a place I could?work.?
This year, students were asked to design an outside package along with a label for an imagined multi-functional beauty balm product. Packaging entries are judged based on the effectiveness of its design, its profitability and marketability.
?The goal of the Young Designers competition is to encourage and develop future creative talent,? says?ICMAD, whose mission is to provide programs to support creativity and innovation for the cosmetic and personal care industries.
