CMT's Texas Women, Anna Hunt is BACK! Part II is HERE! | On the ...

Anna Hunt

Anna Hunt is BACK! Grab your coffee and settle in??..Here is Part II!!!

What rodeo events do you do and what events do you prefer to compete in?

When I was in Jr. rodeo and High School rodeo I ran barrels, poles, goat tying, and breakaway. In college I ran barrels, goat tying, and breakaway roping. These days I go to barrel racing jackpots and team ropings.

Your father is a rodeo coach, and you were around many up and coming rodeo athletes, who touched you the most?

Being the rodeo coach?s daughter I got to be around some really amazing people. Casey Minton, Luke Branquinho, Daniel Green, Lee Akin, Billy Bugenig (SC), among others! You can see the ones that want it and those who are just going to settle.

At the age of 19, you suffered a stroke. Can you talk to us a little bit about that experience?

Prior to my stroke I could not sleep at night. I would worry about school, breeding cows, bucking bulls, practice and rodeoing, family, a job? I did not know how I could get through the day. I had just got done with my morning classes, having lunch, and changing into my jeans and boots to go out to practice. My friend was with me. I could not talk and I had paralysis on the right side of my body and fell over. I went to the hospital in town and then transferred to Fresno and was there for a week. I lost my speech and the ability to read and write. I went to Stanford and they found holes in the back of my heart.

What did having such a major life change teach you?

The day that I had my stroke was the best day of my life. I have learned to not worry about the little things. If I cannot get it done today I can do it tomorrow. I read a book a few years back that really related to me, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day.?I am a lion chaser now!

After the stroke I had to learn to talk, read, and write again. I still have trouble. Everyone who I talk to say that they cannot tell. I thought that the hardest thing to do would not only? be to talk but in front of a camera. I had a demo reel of interviews at a Professional Bull Riders event. I sent the tape to OLN and College Sports TV. I got hired on both among others. I am most proud of the Calgary Stampede and the Pendleton Round-Up.

In Anna Hunt?s words and not a quote from someone else, tell the OTRR Fans your life philosophy?

Give 100% on what you are passionate about because life is precious. Do not be afraid to express what you love? it should show through eyes and your smile and there should be proof on the palms of your hands.
